Helping the public

The domestic construction market is still an unsure minefield that can both confuse and frighten certain people. Even the best of us can fall foul of the builder that doesn't turn up, extra charges come flying in, the guy you met isn't the one on site etc. There's checks you can and should do but here's how we can help :

  • We can prepare a section by section document that can easily let you see who has quoted for what and how they compare.

  • We can provide an independent quote where there are big gaps on the ones you get back.

  • Thinking of buying a house and having work done on it ? A builder won't be interested yet in speaking to you, and rightly so as there may not be a job at the end of it to quote for. We are happy to meet up and see how we can help things along.

  • Which builder should you approach? We work with several builders in your area, and know many more. The joiner who will re-model your kitchen may not be the best one to do a double storey extension. We can advise on who is suitable, and no we are not in league with any. We want you to recommend us to others so it is completely impartial.

Dispute Resolution

Unfortunately we are seeing more & more issues where both the client & their contractor have arrived at a position where third party intervention is the only way forward. We will always strive to become involved in projects at the earliest opportunity but on occasion there is a need for us to step in.

Recently we have been able to resolve the following:

  • Poor workmanship issues meant the builder & customer parted company. We resolved the final payment.

  • A customer was over-charged by a family member who constructed an extension base. We were able to successfully claim money back.

  • A large new build project was handed over two months late & over budget. We completed an in depth report on all valuations & correspondence & resolved all issues.

  • A customer barricaded in their own home due to unpaid invoices. We were able to agree a settlement figure.

  • A builder took payment for several bifolds from a customer & fitted them in his own house.

  • We were able to resolve an issue with a poorly built extension for a vulnerable lady, where she didn't understand she had recourse through the original signed contract.
